There is a myriad of things to do in the surrounding
area. Fishing and bird watching at the Stocks Reservoir, walking
& cycling in Gisburn Forest, caving & hiking in the Yorkshire
Dales. Golfing is available at Coniston Cold as well as a 4 x
4 driving experience. There are also falconry centres nearby if
you wish to try your hand at hawking. The famous Settle to Carlisle
railway is close by and runs through Long Preston. The famous
"Three Peaks" (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough)
is a popular weekend walk and covers approx 25 miles on the peaks
surrounding Settle, the local market town.
Through the summer months a busy calendar of agricultural
shows, craft fairs, fetes & galas gets under way, many are
free for you to visit.
If you are looking for a more cosmopolitan escape
and are interested in shopping & eating out then Skipton,
"the gateway to the Dales" is just 20 minutes drive
away on the A65 and the Spa town of Harrogate is just 30 minutes
away up the A59. Leeds is approximately 45 minutes away offering
a wide array of shops, restaurants, bars etc, now known as the
London of the North.
